Eldercare Oxford was established in 1981 and was extensively refurbished in 2012. The site and landscaped gardens blend harmoniously with the surrounding residential area. Oxford is located on Hulbert Street in the beachside suburb of Hove - just a short stroll to the beach at the end of the street. There is a large shopping centre located a few kilometres away and the area has a range of shopping and leisure facilities. Local shops a cinema post office chemists and cafes are also in close proximity Oxford is accessible by bus tram road and train. It is conveniently co-located with over 30 Eldercare retirement living units. Oxford is one of Eldercare's smaller sites and prides itself on its homely welcoming atmosphere. We have numerous sheltered courtyards including a conservatory-style area in our specialist memory unit. Barbeque facilities and private dining rooms are available for family celebrations. The grounds of the facility are well maintained and landscaped consisting of garden beds filled with seasonal flowers and a range of plants for the enjoyment of residents. GPs podiatrists physiotherapists audiologists speech pathologists and massage therapists all visit regularly to provide comprehensive medical services to our residents. There is also an on-site hairdresser. We share regular social activities at local Brighton and Plympton RSL Clubs. Holdfast Bay Library visits regularly and the Royal Society for the Blind provides audio recordings of the local Guardian Messenger newspaper for residents with vision impairment. An established fundraising auxiliary and volunteer group (including experienced pet therapists) enhances the resources and support available to residents. The local St Jude's Church Community Visitors Scheme also strengthens our social networks. Residents enjoy a long-standing intergenerational program with local schools. The decorative mural in our specialist memory unit is one of the many positive outcomes. Children from the neighbouring Kate Cocks' Child Care Centre visit each fortnight to share songs stories and laughter with residents. Our lifestyle program generates extensive interest from the local community and many people in the area volunteer to assist us in providing these activities.
