Welcome to our residential home on the banks of the Derwent River, just nine kilometres from Hobart’s CBD. We enjoy picturesque views of wineries, the Derwent River and the surrounding mountains; and major shopping centres and tourist attractions are all nearby. Strathaven is home to 85 residents, offering a combination of single rooms with ensuites and large built-in wardrobes, single rooms with shared facilities and one double room. Everyone is welcome to relax in our pleasant indoor communal areas, with their delightful water features, and the attractive surrounding gardens with our chook pen. Our trained nurses and care staff provide round the clock care; and all our residents enjoy flexible and individual attention that is tailored to their needs, whether that is a little help with everyday living, or intensive support for those with cognitive and mobility challenges. Everyone is encouraged to make choices and decisions regarding their care and individual interests. We offer a range of social and leisure activities through our Lifestyle Program, as well as our regular Coffee Pot café-style get togethers and our Men’s Shed. Families and friends are encouraged to be involved in the overall care of residents through regular family case conferences facilitated by our Care Co-ordinators; and volunteering enquiries are welcome. At Uniting AgeWell we believe that older people, like people of all ages, want to live in an environment of choice, empowerment and wellness – and to access support and care as they choose. Research indicates that people stay healthier when they are in control of their environment and can maintain community connections.
